Prerequisite Courses for Optometry

Requirement: CSUSB equivalent:
1 year of Biology BIOL 200, 201, and 202
1 year of General Chemistry CHEM 215 and 216
1 year of Physics PHYS 121, 122, and 123 or PHYS 221, 222, and 223
(PHYS 221, 222 and 223 highly recommended)
1 year of Organic Chemistry CHEM 221, 222, 223 or 321, 322, 323
2 courses in English ENGL 101 and 110 or 111, 
1 course in Calculus MATH 192 or 211
2 courses in Psychology PSYC 100 and 1 other 
1 course in Statistics SSCI 210

Optometry Admissions Test (OAT)

All schools of Optometry require that students take the Optometry Admissions Test (OAT). The test covers the subjects of Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Quantitative Ability, Physics, and Reading Comprehension.
